The 6 Arizona drive-thrus where a second chain put in a back-up bid sat on roads with a median of 9,862 cars a day, against 16,328 for the 13 without one, in GrowthFactor's run. The priciest box, in Laveen, went to 7 Brew for $2,595,777 with 5,972 cars a day out front.
Salad and Go, a drive-thru salad chain based in Tempe, Arizona, filed for bankruptcy this year. In September a bankruptcy court approved 7 Brew, a drive-thru coffee chain, buying at least 60 of its leases for $123 million, with Dutch Bros as the backup bidder, Restaurant Dive reported. Salad and Go put the leftovers up at a second auction on September 30, where three drink chains took 19 Arizona boxes, at prices from $1 to $2,595,777: Swig, the Utah drive-thru soda chain, won 10, Dutch Bros, another drive-thru coffee chain, won 5, and 7 Brew won 4. The proposed sale order filed for the October 14 court hearing lists every winner, price and back-up bid.

Prices ran from $1 to $2,595,777
In the filing, 7 Brew paid $2,595,777 for Laveen and $1,995,777 for Mesa's Brown Road box, and Dutch Bros had offered $900,000 as the back-up on each. Both came out of a five-store, $4,000,000 package Dutch Bros had put the opening bid on. Once 7 Brew took those two, Dutch Bros kept the other three, in Phoenix, Chandler and Tempe, for $10,000 each.
The same filing shows Swig winning Queen Creek's Ellsworth Road box at $1,425,000 over a $1,400,000 Dutch Bros back-up. Dutch Bros won Chandler's Arizona Avenue box at $1,300,000 over a $1,200,000 Swig back-up, and Surprise's Cactus Road box at $26,293 over a $25,777 back-up from 7 Brew. Litchfield Park went to 7 Brew at $500,000 under its opening-bid deal, with a $1,000,000 Dutch Bros back-up on file. Among these 19, Dutch Bros was the winner or the back-up on every box that drew a back-up bid.
Swig took Casa Grande for $1. The judge approved 22 of the Arizona stores on October 14 and left two, Casa Grande among them, for an October 20 hearing, Phoenix's KTAR News reported.
The busy roads drew no back-up bid
GrowthFactor's road data gives the cars a day on the segment each site fronts. The 6 boxes with a back-up bid had a median of 9,862 a day. The 13 without one had 16,328. Laveen's 5,972 is lower than 16 of the 19.
The busiest road of the 19, 32,749 cars a day on Indian School Road, drew no back-up bid. Swig won that Phoenix box for $700,000, the filing shows.
What the six had around them
In the 10-minute drive zones, on 2026 demographic estimates from the run, the 6 boxes with a back-up bid had a median of 110,809 people around them against 127,459, and 18 coffee and soda shops against 24. By the median, the six sat in richer, less crowded zones: household income $118,861 against $99,696.
In GrowthFactor's foot traffic data, their zones were quieter too: a median of 121,905,341 yearly visits across each zone, less than half the 257,650,087 for the others.
In the run, Laveen's zone holds no Dutch Bros, 7 Brew or Swig, and 6 coffee or soda shops in all. Mesa's Brown Road box, 7 Brew's other big buy, breaks the pattern, with 171,635 people and 6 Dutch Bros inside its zone.
